Put all spare parts in back seat of TJ. Driving it towards Montana next weekend. Sad

Drove past the ZJ 4x a day for the past week and a half. I need to replace that UCA bolt so I can drive it around the block again. :hangsheadinshame:

diesel or hemi?

Hemi, I would have been stupid to pass this deal up. Would have liked to get the diesel but we are happy either way.

91, getting cleaned out, even the batteries, but for the moment the air bags are staying in, might be on someone another person's trailer by this weekend. I've got three folks trying to talk deal.

i luv my cummins power and how smooth it runs .. after driving 4cyl yotas for so long i had no idea what i had been missing ... the mega cab would been nice but it was almost 10k more down here ..so the 4 door was fine for the 5 of us ..[Image: newtruckwithtopper001.JPG]

Congrats on the new truck Tom. I looked at getting one but my shortbed is already too short. teh mega cab one is insanely small, that was my only issue with them, trying to tow a gooseneck with that short of bed wouldn't be fun, and that's the next big purchase on the list. I might know where a factory loker fromt he powerwagon axles are, they are the same axles.

Made the deal for a new rear axle last night, now to pay for it, and get all the parts I need to do the 8.8 swap!

there was a 6" lift for one of those on craigslist a few weeks ago

If you are thinking about lifting it keep in mind it will hurt your towing alot.

I'm going to try to keep this one as close to stock as I can just for that reason.

Skitzo rear axle has gears installed and is back together with fluid.
Fuel pump replaced
A bunch of other minor things fixed.
Moving on to the front axle and lock-right installation.

TuRDinator - Got Aussie locker installed into the front third member, located the front axle got the rear spring hangers hard tacked inplace, james got all the old brackets groung off the front axle housing. I got the garage warming up now so I can weld up the springhangers, and weld up the front axle trus, diffarmor, and knuckleball gussets.

TuRD - added its weekly qt of oil

Yesterday was one of those days where everything I touched in the garage fought me to the death, I finally had to call it quits early and just walk away before I started throwing things.... Hopefully today the garage gremlins are gone, I left the heater off hopefully those little buggers froze last night. Big Grin

Added 2" of lift, Chromoly axle shafts with 35 spline outers, and a welded rear 10.25 before the run. On the run I added a cardboard passenger side window, an electrical taped headlight, and balanced my wheels with snow. Oh yeah. And I glazed my balls.Big Grin

Got alot done today I got all the goodies welded onto my axle housing, Diff armor, truss, knuckleball gussets, I got one spring pack built, my springs consist of top 3 leaves 86 rear, bottom 3 leaves out of an 84 front spring pack cut 1 1/2 insh shorter than the leaf above it to make a 6 leaf pack. I got my front springhanger fulley welded in ad the rear springhangers welded to the frame, I did not have frame jigs so I made spring mounts and welded them to the bottom of the frame, I am going to run a 4 inch shackle, heres the pics
this is the front axle how I got it, its from an 83
[Image: IMG_1316.jpg]
This is how the housing came out, I was still working on finishing up the gussets, it took me all day because I welded 1 inch at a time and let it cool down till i could touch it before welding again, I did not want to chance warping the housing

axle looks uber sweet !

i got my motor sitting in the engine bay today ! but can get it to line up on the engine mount on the pass side ..err just needs to come down a inch !

Jeff, that front axle looks **** sweet.

TJ: sits on the curb for anothr 7 days. Then it's off to pasture somewhere in Montana.

ZJ: got the TV cable adjusted on the tranny. Nothing like the FSM procedure, but I outsmarted it somehow. :knockout:
Also got the suspension tightened down good. I think I may pull the rear shocks to isolate the rough ride. I'd like to get some real sway-bar links on there, but when I get the lift, I'll have extra parts. Confusedhrug:

Overdue for an oil change

more driveline noise...overdue for axle diff oil change as well it seems

needs t-case looked at, still. Something's not right.

Locker is working just fine, strangely enough.

Probably going to need fresh front springs after the winch is on...I have enough sag already. Joey!
