The zuki needs work before the stamped run, plans are to replace both motor mounts and trans mount. Install a kong t-case mount fix the t-case leak. upgrade the front axle shaft to some new heavier ones and possibly the rear ones. Fix the top and replace the t-stat. clean the leaves out of the heater box. build a receiver mount for the winch. build 2 gas can holders. add some lights. redesign the upper rear shock mounts and fix lower shock mount.

well in my spare time i like to garden and do needle point LOL , house house house if anyone is ever bored theres plenty to do , sheet rock, wiring, insulating

Repaired winch but still may replace motor.

Got broken shaft out of rear axle and replaced. Took all of 30 secondsRolleyes

Cleaning out the garage tonight to move the red F250 in tomorrow morning. Have to pull the rear axle out. I want to ditch the body as well while I have it in the garage.

YOTA : got starter in, I need to adjust carb and check the timing, she runs kinda rough at idle but smooths out under power, I need to pull oil pan and reseal it, also she needs front axle seals got gear oil leaking around axle shafts.

JEEP : Pulled her in the garage so she can thaw out, gonna pull the front end apart to build the cross over steering, also gotta build some kind of mud flap gimmick, the Make-Believe police got me on post last week told me not to bring it back till i got some mud flaps, also while I got her in I am gonna drop the front axle and move it forward 2 inches, in the rear I am going to grind off the spring hangers and relocate them to drop the jeep an inch and a half

YOTA: I built a battery tray and installed a new battery heater, Changed plugs, wires, distrib cap, button. adjusted carb. installed CB. Started planning new improved flatbed. I may do a small build up on this truck, I have a Power steering system lined up just got to come up with the $$
I have been doing some research and there are some low buck things I can do to this rig that would make it pretty capable, I want to retain the DD ability though so nothing crazy.

JEEP: She is frozen solid, I parked it outside overnight so the rvt on my wife's oil pan heater could cure in the heat and it wont turn over now. the 20-50 oil in it probably is like glue right now I am trying to stay motivated with the jeep but I am pretty board with it. It may go BYE BYE one day, If it does it will go n pieces

Well, picked up a 97 K1500 Suburban with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel.

It's a nice DD, has a 4" lift and 33" A/T's. Thanks to the 6.5L it came with the 14SF rear instead of the 10-bolt 1500's normally get, but someone changed the axle shafts and front hubs to the 3/4 ton Suburban style for a really nice brake upgrade. I verified the part numbers because the previous owner just put brakes on it before i picked it up. It was worth it, it stops great!

Well, it's had an intermittent stalling issue, after some conversations with KTF and the friendly folks at http://www.thedieselpage.com, I figured out a good set of things to troubleshoot and check. I was gonna fix it tonight and it died on the way to work and wouldn't restart. I had to walk three miles in the rain and dark back home to get the wife's van and get to work about fourty minutes late. Yeah that didn't go so well. Anyway, I changed the fuel filter, and it was past due for a change. I checked the fuel pump and it seemed to be working fine. I also checked the fuel shut off valve and it too functioned as it should, so that left me with the part that is the most troublesome part of the 6.5L injection pump system, the FSD (Fuel selenoid driver). It costs over $330 new and fails frequently partially due to a poor stock mounting location. They mount it on the side of the injection pump, they said it was supposed to cool it as fuel flowed through the pump. However they forgot to account for the heat that is in the engine valley and the fact that the pump actually gets hot while running, not cold. Kevin relocated the one on his 99 last winter when it started giving him fits and that component quit giving him problems after that. I still need to relocate mine, however due to the fact I'm not sure how old mine is and how good it is, I think I will go and buy a new one, and carry it with me until this one quits again, and instead of removing the intake manifold to change mine, I'll just unplug the original and put the new one in a better location. Kev was able to get to his without too much hassle, but because I have A/C, mine is slightly more difficult to get to.

Oh the fun, but at least it's working now, and yes I will get pictures soon.

BTW, the 74 may have found a new owner, and be staying in the club. I've had to change some of my priorities thanks to my knee problems and what the AF has told me could happen thanks to them. Basically, I might be medically retired by this time next year, unless they fix it and I return to fully deployable status next fall. With the last conversation I had with the surgeon, I'm not gonna hold my breath on things getting better. As usual, I was told what a problem look like on an MRI, and even though I had the dreaded white line the Dr had talked about, he tried to tell me that a partial white line is okay, only one going from one side of a ligament to anther is bad. I still liked my comeback about how a piece of paper half torn is not nearly as strong as one that isn't torn, but the Dr wants me to continue physical therapy and hope for the best. Thanks Doc. So I'm selling the rig to pay for a Airframe and Powerplant school that will have me certified with just two weeks of classroom instruction, so that in case I find myself jobless this time next year, I have a license I can fall back on to get a decent job. Who knows, maybe I can find a way to move up there and use it. Lots of calling for A&P's up there with all the bush pilots.

Anyway, that's my status, I guess it was more than just the rigs, but I've had a few ask so thought I'd put it out for everyone to see.

I'll move back up there someday, it's just not as soon as I had originally hoped. Then again, nothing has seemed to go right as of late. Sad

I keep telling myself that, however with as rough as it's been, I've gone willingly to a shrink. There's just some stuff you cannot deal with without some extra help.

Speaking of diesels:

99 3/4 ton Suburban - 6.5 turbo diesel - will not start. I'm suspecting the winterization components have failed...

As well, the t-case in it has gone kaputs. It will pop out of 2wd going down the highway and the chain slips (with loud popping noise) in 4wd and it leaks fluid in great abundance.

Thus leaves us - a family of 5 - with 1 running standard cab beat to crap but starts every day 75 Chevy pickup... At least that has been it's normal reliable self! Smile

In the garage is the '85 6.2 suburban - it is an hour or so away from running. needs fuel lines bled, glow plugs installed, wires attached to glow plugs, antifreeze added, and a few othe miscellaneous items like air cleaner housing, buddy heater, etc...

Anyone gonna be around and off work around 9:30 or 10 that I can call if this dies a mile from the house? Big Grin

Someone stiole my gas cap 2 days after I got my TJ to the base. 1 week later I found 5 of my lug nuts less than finger tight. Yes, all on 1 wheel.

Last week I picked up a 97 Camry DD. So I haven't driven the TJ in 4 days. Who knows what the punks have done to it now

going home to CO for the holidays, might bring my ZJ and doggie back up here. We'll see. If I get the ZJ here, the price on the TJ will be lower...

Well, "Nemesis" is outside idleing... (85 Suburban) For those that don't know - due to various reasons - this is the 6th engine I've put or pulled from this vehicle. I will be headed to NP in a bit. Hopefully I can soon change the name to something more positive sounding :oops:

I took my time this morning and fixed more than I had planned - why not get it as close to right as possible before bringing it out in the cold, right?!?!

"Nemesis" did ok on the first test run.

Overheated - but didn't - the guage went up to 260! So I pulled it over and the hose was barely warm - so maybe there was simply an air bubble that had to work its way out.

Transmission seemed reluctant to shift - but I figured out it was low on fluids. Hopefully filling it will help. As well, I will adjust the kickdown cable to change the shift points a tad.

I don't know that this 6.2 is in the best shape. It seemed there was a lot of un-burnt fuel in the exhaust - then again, it was -35 or colder the entire time I drove it.

As the name goes - it is still the nemesis. Took it to the insurance company and they said they couldn't insure it unless I either had it titled in my name or had a signed title. So I went out to get the title and SOMEONE forgot to sign it before he left the state. SO they said they couldn't insure it. :confused:

If I have posession of the vehicle and I want to insure it, shouldn't they take my money??? Confusedhrug: They said :nono:. So I said, so if a friend lent me their vehicle if I would insure it, you're telling me I couldn't insure it :errf:

They said, nope.

I said, but I've done that before.
They said, not in Alaska you didn't. (evidently there is a state law saying only an owner can insure a vehicle)

I didn't bother then informing them that they were the insurance company that insured that vehicle for almost 2 years while it was titled to someone else... Confusedilenced:

So I said, I have to drive this vehicle. I have no choice. So you're telling me to be able to drive I have to drive un-insured. :mad: :angry: :rant: :banghead:

In the end, I'm suprised they didn't call the cops and tell them an unisured driver was leaving their parking lot.

Mark is going to get a "bill of sale" and have it notariazed. Then he can fax it to the insurance agency and THEN they can insure it. Stinking bureaucracy! :doh:

My Jeep did that this morning on the way to work. Scared the bejeezus out of me because I couldn't be late...we had a mandatory safety meeting. Seems the thermostat was stuck or something and it pegged the thermometer due to the lack of circulation, or something. I got out, squeezed the hose a little bit, and it was just fine after that.

Anywho...got it pulled into the building today after everything was out of the way, let it thaw out. Aired the tires up to 30, from 15 :O. Fan belt is squealing like a stuck pig at idle...gotta tighten up the compressor now. Closed the drain valve on the air tank and found no leaks....but I still want to go over every fitting again, install a tank isolater valve, and redo all the wiring to something resembling a professional job rather than a rat's nest.

I guess the t-case needs to be taken out and inspected, fluid changed, etc. It's giving me grief.

97 Burb is dead again with the PMD as the culprit. Ordered a new one with a relocation device and 7 year warranty. Yeah it's not cheap, but worth it.

Feeling like a dork because I forgot to sign a title. I still think my idea would work Kev.

Well, I put the Jeep in the garage last saturday, and tore the rear axle apart so I could replace the seals and the brakes, But sunday I was very very sick, and also agian on monday. So the jeep is still on jack stands in the garage. So tomrrow I am off work, and hopefully will be able to get it back together. and get the ARB compressor installed. wish me luck.

I tore the rear axle apart on the TuRD cleaned out all the water/old burnt gear oil, The ring and pinion are in great shape, I welded up the spider gears and put it all back together, the right side axle seal looked like it had seen better days so I replaced it while I was at it.
next thing I am going to do is rebuild the steering knuckles.

77 Blazer is awaiting funds for rebuild

99 Suburban needs a new t-case and starter

85 Suburban did well on a test run to town and back, still needs proper trans lines re-run.

90 Blazer needs cltutch/pressure plate work

87 Blazer needs exhaust and IM

75 is running good as normal. Good ol' mule!
