holeski Wrote:try harder. Get some lube! Even if I get the metal center out, what do I do about the rubber bushing inside the shock. Won't it wear out, if it is constantly turning on the bolt?

Not to fast or you can see if you can swap the one out of the other shocks.

Blazer now sports: 39.5 x 18x 16.5 BOGGERS!
Toy-O-Let is getting closer one little thing at a time. Still aiming for Meet-n-greet, but dunno. Built bed mounted radiator mount and spare tire mount - started on the brake master cyl replacement. Once the brakes are finished, seat mounting brackets are figured, and the hood and other tubing are fabbed up then we will paint and get her running.

holeski Wrote:try harder. Get some lube! I tried! Ok, I can't get the center metal pieces out of the bushing. I've been pounding away on it with a hammer and no luck. This is just a pain in the ass! I freakin' give up!!!

With Ron's help this morning we got the center metal rings out of the Shock bushings, but now they won't slide over the metal mounts on the truck. This has stopped being fun at this point!

Tearing front axle apart to scavange parts. A rewire of Scott's suzuki fuel pump circuitry tonight. Picked up Advent's transfer case along with a bunch of suzuki spare parts while in Anchorage.

Toy-O-Let now sports a Chevy brake booster and master cylinder. I need to go get a few fittings and lines and run brake lines. I also added a few cage supports.
I will need a hand with putting the transmition in soon. Biggest pain is getting it out of the back of a truck in the back yard.

well i got my tube bed all welded up tube wise .but im saving my pennies for the aluminum diamond plate for the bed walls and floor as well fenders ..need 2 sheets and its $236 a sheet right now !... i bought a new design of bushing from energy bushings so i will have to modify my body mount a bit to make them work .
i still need to hang the chevy springs ,but i will do this when i take the tube bed back off for final sanding and paint . while i have the bed off i will also rehang a new exhaust around the new springs . i started the fender mods for the snorkel as well .. have all the parts cut and fitted to box the rear of the frame for better support of the chevy springs and tow points . but its coming along nicely . next winter i will be hanging in a 5.0 v-8 and 4.7 tcase !

Top and doors are finally off, still pretty chilly in the AM driving 55 mph to town, especially with the moisture in the air and no jacket.

Well, I apparently tweeked the Monty's front bumper lastnight. It seems loose and moves up and down just a bit. I'm gonna tighten the bolts down when I get home. I may need to put a couple of welds between it and the frame to reinforce it a little. Highboy said to use a stitch weld?
19 May 06, 01:52 pm
Stitch weld would be just as it sounds, like stitches... - - - - -, weld an inch than space two inches, weld another inch and so on. Using one and two inches as an example...
19 May 06, 01:54 pm
Got it! :allrighty: I'm thinking this may be a good idea to reinforce it.

Just can't seem to get the other zuk finished. Did some rewiring of the stereo and other wiring. Drained and refilled all the gearboxes, did a little more clearancing of the front driveshaft and good to go. Only thing left on the list is bleed the brakes. Found the rear shoes worn and the adjusters not working. I guess a rear brake job tonight and it will finally be worthy of a real test drive. Sheetrock this weekend and then I'll have a few days while the taper comes in and gets the rooms ready for paint to work on my own rig. While down in Anchorage I picked up a bunch of spare parts. Now I need to build a holder for the spare front axle shafts. I plan on putting them in a pvc tube and mounting them under the hood, unless a better idea is laid before me!

two huge holes in new boggers! Still waiting for prognosis form the ziggy tire guru.
Will be working all day Sat and Mon on the toy-o-let.

Just took the Scott's Zuki for a drive. I had to replace the rear wheel cylinders, rearange the rear ebrake cable and install new brake shoes with the turned rotors. Engine runs great, everything appears to work, the driveline angles are way too steep, but a YJ lift is on the way which will drop the height after removing all that silly shackle reversal stuff. I was suprised at the power that 1.3 has.
On mine I need to reinstall the rear shock and adjust the rear bump stops so that the shocks aren't doing that job.
02 Jun 06, 04:48 pm
Put a 1 3/4 spacer lift on the ZJ. Did the front discos while I was under there. But I forgot to insert one of the bumpstops into the coil before installing it.
Hopefully tonight I'll be putting on the 8 control arms, and then the 33s will fit. I also fabbed up a roof basket for it, so that just needs painted and installed. I measured for skid plates, and hopefully Holeproof has some steel left, and I can protect my belly a little for M&G. |
