Update your rig status here!
Skitzo isn't currently holding 4LO. Need linkage.
Also need to upgrade gas pedal - have an assembly, just need to swap it out.
Two fairly good test runs went well - except the low range...
Oh - need new air filter!

Avy - perfect, getting a set of BFG A/T's soon.

SAV - Need to pull donor axle, install welded carrier, put my old axle under donor so it rolls around, install donor axle under mine.

I've been dragging my feet on this project for too long. It's a long weekend, so I thiugh t I'd finally get it done. Started yesterday afternoon and fionished today. not as bad a s I thought. I was torn between keeping my spare tire upright since I built a extension piece for the stock location, or laying it on its side. My OBA takes up more room than I'd like, and it basically dictated that I would have a larger floor space if I built this shelf.
It's 5/8" plywood, 33 x 55 inches (minus a plain, 45* angle cut at the aft edges) and the 4 removable legs are 11" 2x4s. The majority of support actually comes from the wheel wells. It's bordered by 2x4 and 1x3. I hid my beautifully mitered corners and precise hammering skills with outdoor carpet.
Sorry I didn't get any progress pics.

New front axle is in and rear axle is pulled, got to swap out rear wheel cylinder and brake line then 5.13 gears and locked front & rear and ready to wheel.Smile

SAV - The welded 14FF is in. I broke a bolt in the pinion, so will change that tomorrow. Need to plum new brake lines and get a connector to bypass the brake/load valve.

After that, need to verify the front bearings are okay, and if they are tighten them up a bit, if not swap them for ones that are okay.

Also, fixed the dash lights, in the middle of swapping radios, and installing a CB.

Hummer still sitting, need to buy and install rear springs and mounts, shocks, tie rod ends and upper ball joints. The steering and ride aren't terrible (but not great either), but these items all need replaced as they are still the originals circa 1993 and all of the boots are torn which means the grease pumps out as fast as it is pumped into the tie rod ends.ball joints.

These will keep me busy all this winter since it looks like I am staying until Sept 2010.

I need to find a dirt cheap 4x4 DD that gets decent gas mileage, ugly doesn't matter...

SAV - Rear axle swap complete, off jackstands, and driving under it's own power again. However, while taking it for a drive, I noticed that the speedo was pretty much right on (it's always read slow before) and the RPM's seemed higher than normal. So I tried out 4x4 and noticed that it bound up. The rear I thought had 3.73's had 4.10's. While that's not a horrible thing, it means that on the trail tomorrow I will not have 4x4. On a positive note, a quick search of the yard found a D44 front with 4.10's, that used to be in Skitzo. So if I can get someone to swap with me, I'll have matching gears again, but not until after the run.

The numbers 44 and 11 were on the side of the ring gear, so to say I'm frustrated doesn't even come close.

And go figure we just swapped both upper and lower ball joints on the 10-bolt up front.

I may have a good set of D44 4.10 s for you already pulled out.

Chris that diagram looks like it is either a t-18 or t-98. I am going with T-18.

That would be sweet.

Sorry. They were the wrong ratio. I guess Nate lucked out by getting my only set of 4.10s.

Bummer, will keep looking.

took the zuki to Ole's and it was decided that the upper arm on the rear is to damaged and will have to be replaced. New springs were ordered friday. Still need to fix the broken axle and loose steering also ordered everything to install the power steering.

Don't know what that transmission is but I'm pretty sure it's not a T18.

Grizzlybeaver's been my reliable DD more days now and getting more hwy miles than I ever hoped while Gene's can't seem to get my Jeep right. What started as a simple inner axle tube seal R&R is turning into a giant fiasco. The new seal leaked worse than the old, then the u-joint in the shaft blew a cap. They put in another seal, but the u-joint looks to be spinning a cap unless the tech just didn't get the snap-ring in right (I'd give even odds on either possibility) but regardless, the brand new u-joint is goobering out it's grease...so he likely screwed it up on installation. The tech swears the stub shaft must be bad. The icing on the cake is the bright blue RTV boogers framing the front diff cover and all 10 bolts for all the world to see...really blingy if I had a blue Jeep...

So long story short, guess who's going back tomorrow with a flash drive full of pictures and arguing for a whole new shaft...

Fixed skitzo's steering - new drag link with proper ball joints - that added to the new u-joint replacement for the rag joint and it steered great!

However, the t-case will not select a gear! Nothing, just grinding...

Replacement to happen hopefully before Saturday!

Hey Tom really like the Rock pushers. Kev can I get some pictures of the drags if you make it with repairs to skitzo? I am missing this weekends but what is the schedule for this season cause I may make it next month.

SAV - blew the driver's side axle shaft playing at the pit yesterday. No problem as the axle was gonna come out this week anyway.
