A problem that seemed as thought it was a turbocharger, turns out to be a catalytic converter.

the 351 windsor is out and on the stand being cleaned up and checked thru out so i dont fall into same hole as i did with my"fresh" 22r .

man so far im blown away on how clean and tight this motor was ..no oil or sludge build up super clean ... the valve covers looked new inside the manifold looked good as new no sluge or build up either .. looks like the motor was barley used ..

so im going to put all new gaskets and water pump on and run it ..

Ok, 1985 GMC Jimmy bought, it has the 305 5.0L V8, not quite the 350 but still plenty good enough. Just have to get it running, then the cutting begins!!! 40 inch swampers, thats the high goal. well maybe just 38's

Yeah but who knows maybe one day the Ranger will get some attention too. Just need to keep a vehicle running so I can go pick up parts and get places.

Your engine needs some backpressure to produce torque. Put it on a dyno with no muffler or cat, and your horsepower will be higher, but torque will be pathetic.

Note: I'm doing this with a Diesel, but it's got a turbocharger to give it some backpressure to work against.

I run a cat but no muffler

AEV / Nth Degree Tummy Tucker ordered. I'm not planning on body lift so I went this route. My transmission mount is fried so I'm doing this sooner, not waiting for the springs and tires.

Sorry, Ron, I pretty much had to choose between this and that swingaway I asked you for pricing on.
Reply
no problem Steve. I thought you had to have a BL if you were going to run a Nth tummy tuck but I just read their page (says usually you wont need one). I wonder how they got away with that. I for one was sad to see Nth sell out.
Reply
Did they actually "sell" out. I thought they were just too small to keep profits up enough to stay in business. They're stuff is amazing but you also payed for what you got and there were just too many big guys out there selling pretty good stuff cheaper. It seems everyone was happy that AEV picked up the designs. The stuff will still be available (at similar pricing) and you know AEV will keep the quality up.

Imagine a Brute with a 5.7hemi, an Nth Degree long-arm kit, and 44's...I would almost contemplate selling the GB to help pay for a build like that...almost.
