EDIT: got my speedo gear changed out, still need to put the skidplate back up, I'll do that in the morning. The mud in the skidplate was frozen solid, molded to the inside of it...:p

got my ARB compressor installed, an all the wiring and air lines today, what a PITA... Now all that is left is setting some time aside to get the locker in.

Not by anyway done. Ready to pull the shop truck back in, fit,weld and paint.

I can assume there's more triangulation and gussets to add?

How long did that part take to bend up?
What are using to notch?

Thats all the bars there is for now. Two days of work bending and cutting. I have a tube notcher. I would be done right now but I changed to solid wire and now can get it to weld right.

If I get a new pinion bearing, or full bearing kit for my front axle, is there anyone willing to help me tear it down and replace it? I want to do it myself and learn how, but I'll definitely need some coaching. I'll supply the beer/snacks.

Zuki has damaged right side, broken left front and rear axles (at minimum). I think it's going to sit for awhile until I get the remodel done. Which I'm working on right now. Now if only the hardware stores were open!

Kinda lame to break both parts within a couple hundred feet of the road. We all did go back out to the hots prings the next day to soak though!

And it took a bit of time to purge the air from the fuel and HP oil lines.

Didn't go to Salcha, but looked at it here since it was above 0. The antifreeze is a quick fix - replace the water pump housing.

The oil leak has been found and is strange - it needs the rings to seat and it should be fine. It is blowing oil out of the oil check tube! So somehow compression is getting past the rings. I know the gaps were all positioned 120 degrees apart, and I know the bore and the rings matched. I'm thinking the super lubricant he used on the cyllinder walls isn't allowing the rings to seat properly, so once that wears a bit and the rings seat it should be good... hopefully.

The exhaust leak is a matter of loosening up the connectors and re-clamping the exhaust tubes between the header and the turbo on the drivers side.

Meanwhile, I started working on my plow Blazer. The tranny was completely shot - chunks of metal were laying in the bottem of the pan. I have the trans out and t-case separated. Now I simply need to bolt up the replacement trans and bolt it back in place.
Once that is done I need to:
... trace an oil leak
... mount plow and pump and install wiring
... replace body lift with correct parts
... a few other odds and ends

Hopefully by this weekend:
the plow blazer will be functioning
the Ford will be fixed
and I can start looking at brake issues with the Blazer.

ZJ is still running strong. I do think its due for a tranny filter change, though.

TJ is on the road again. open rear, locked front. Sad I need to adjust the front pinion angle again, and then have it professionally aligned. There's a laundry list of little things to get done with it, but I am driving it again.

Thanks to a $2.14 purchase of a T connector and some vaccuum line, the tan plow truck passed IM!

Thanks to Forrest helping me out late last night, the trans and t-case are bolted into place on the brown Blazer.

Todays list of projects:
... Finish buttoning up tranny with linkages and driveshafts
... Replace the body lift (home fabbed 1/16th inch walled 2" square tubing that is squashed at several body mount locations)
...........Thanks to a certain ex-president I have a new in the box body lift ready to install.
... Take plow frame and pump and wiring off of the '73 and bring in to thaw out. Possibly start mounting it to the Blazer.

Up and runnin' without the vibration I've had for a while (musta forgot to put it back on).

Jeep status - reassembled and parked with 6 inches of white stuff on it.
Brutus - Doesn't like to start if it's much colder than about +20.....probably too much fryer oil in the fuel.....Need to clamp the exhaust pipe onto the heater <furnace>, and when it warms up a few degrees I'll be playing around with it.
'Kosh - Frequently seen mutilating dogsled trails around my house. Probably should change the ujoint that's been worn out since I bought it someday, but when have I ever had a ujoint fail on me.
Oh, right. Nevermind.

2007 will be a year for at least getting started on some of the project stacking up in the yard. May have to have a "project party" when I get ready.Wink

Within 3 hours time I took on two projects - and they came at deals I couldn't resist. :eek:

One is my old '90 grey plow blazer.
Fuel injected 350, SM465/205, 4 inch lift (made by me) and 35" BFG AT's
The plow will once again reside on it and this will be my daily driver.
It needs the plow reinstalled, the flywheel turned and a new clutch installed (which I have, I just need to install it.)

The other is a parts blazer I will strip and haul the hull away. Freebie for hauling. Big Grin
Needs engine rebuilt - running gear from there is in good shape.

Brown Blazer will now be built for the trail.
it has a 350 that is mildly built. It now has a new transmition.
It will soon have a proper body lift and the 36x12.5 TSL's will be back on it.

Meanwhile, Derek stopped by - said he's been on leave and has been bored.
Anytime anyone of you is bored and is looking for something to do... chances are I'll be working on something. Call, stop by, chat and or lend a hand. If I don't answer the door, knock on the garage.

Clutch install will be planned for Monday in fairbanks at my friend's shop.
Which means Friday I need to pull the flywheel out to take for resurfacing.
which means tonight I'll be in the garage finishing a trans install and replacing a body lift.

For those who don't know, this is the rig I am in posession of and will soon be driving!

This is one I had traded for, lifted and put the plow on, got IM passed, then sold. Now, It has returned.

One of the great things about this vehicle is that I had just bought the tires before I sold it. Six weeks later the guy I sold it to sold it again. Then the clutch went out shortly after - I bet those tires don't have 2000 miles on them total! And I have a spare!

the black truck is pretty much no more kevin... i have had half a mind to buy it from the guy though... it needs an engine... but that would be a good beater truck to not care about body wise and trees...

i still have the original front clip i have thought about buying it back and doing a manual swap on it so many times... it would be the perfect project truck
i miss it to kev... oh boy do i miss it... i do however not miss loosing the rearend doing 50 down vanhorn... in a matter of 40 seconds of stopping there was a chunk threw the cover and the diff was so hot it was melting the breather tube...
