Portals on Pinzgauer
#1
[Image: showimage.php?i=5102&c=138]
I was down at Kandahar & followed a unique rig around.
It was a Pinzgauer 4X4 used by the Canadian military (Yes, Canada is helping us out over here too).

This thing was UGLY!!!

It had 285X75R16 tires on it, nothing huge mind you, but the ground clearance was over 2 feet!!!
I took a closer look & it uses a portal independent suspension.
It's kind of like a Ford TTB axle with a portal hub on the end of it.
The lowest part of the chassis sits even with the top of the wheel!!!

Some Info I've found:

Was a really neat offroad machine, now I've got to find one in Canada....

The hunt is on!!!

I'd like Unimog 404's myself. The whole rig would be cool but if I can just get the axles I'd be happy.
