Is everyone running ATF in their power steering? I use it in my Ram 2500..but what about older systems? In essence both are just hydraulic fluid.

In general, Toyota's use power steering fluid (none ATF), but both are just different types of hydraulic fluid.

I have to use ATF+4 in the Jeep.
fluids are all box specific

Saginaw pump, toy gear box.

I run 60% power steering fluid, 30% ATF for the winters up here. The ATF keeps it from Gelling. Straight ATF will foam up.

I use ATF. Have in every vehicle. Most vehicles I've owned required ATF not power steering fluid.

With that said AGR recommends valavoline synpower power steering fluid for their saginaws.
