Axle "Rails" - ChevyKev - 04 Aug 07 Ole and I grabbed a bunch of axles a few weeks ago. We were discussing how to keep them off of the ground to where they were easy to work on, get to, and keep them out of the mud and snow. So After I got my crane built, I used some of our discussion ideas to build this: It consists of 2, 18' long 2" pipe pieces - 1/4" walled. 6 stumps about 18 inches tall and 6-8 inches thick with "V" notches in the top. And a piece of rope to help secure it to a nearby tree. It started out fairly wobbly, but the more weight I put on it, the more stable it became! Currently there are 10 axles on the "rails": 14FF, Corp 12, Corp 10F, Corp 12, 14FF, 44F, 44F, 14FF, 14FF, and an oddball rear offset D60 housing. Axle "Rails" - ajpthng - 04 Aug 07 Sweet! Axle "Rails" - sevenslats - 04 Aug 07 If that alone doesn't look enough like a salvage yard, he's going to label everything with a paint pen! :poke: Neat idea, kev. looks great in person. Axle "Rails" - ziggy - 05 Aug 07 When you have 10 axles in your back yard and they arent under a rig "you may be a Cheylover." Axle "Rails" - ChevyKev - 06 Aug 07 Oh, I have more than 10, thats just all that would fit on the rails! |
