Before I leave Alaska I'm wanting to re-gear my WJ so I can tow my trailer out of hear easier. Currently I have 3.55 and I'm wanting to go to 3.73 and keep my 31" tires. I think this will be a good combo to be able to tow and still get good MPG but the problem I'm running into is I can't seem to find a carrier break in the 8.25 :errf: . I know I'm going to have to get a new carrier for the D30 up front but from what I'm seeing the 8.25 will be fine up to the 4.56, is this correct or am I missing something.

YOu should be good according to this. Oh and I have a brand new D30 carrer for lower gears if it is the same.

not that this answers your question, but you know that the 8.25 uses adjusters and not shims right? and you need to aquire/make a tool to turn them from the hub side of the tube.

The WJ should have a D35 not a 8.25 unless you swaped it out.

WJ's came with D35's and D44a's, but you only get the D44a if you have the V8.

3.73's with your tire size is just right.

buck87xj has a set of 3.73's for a D35 if that's what you have.
