Don't forget to keep your reciept in a safe place.

Update your rig status here! - SHoppe715 - 18 Aug 08

Absolutely! Carquest will have the gear by tomorrow morning from Anch and I'll get the starter from Shmucks. Can the Eielson craft shop resurface flywheels? FtWW can for $25 vs. $55 at Youngs but they're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Update your rig status here! - 78calico - 18 Aug 08

I think Napa does.

Update your rig status here! - ARCTIC_EXPRESS - 18 Aug 08

Ports Machine Shop can normally resurface a flywheel while you wait.

Update your rig status here! - SHoppe715 - 24 Aug 08

Yes they did, and for only $20.

Had to order a new throwout bearing and clutch fork too. The only good thing is that The Jeep Guy is probably the coolest guy in the world to deal with. Next weekend now is when I should be up and running again. Got the flywheel back on and replaced the clutch, now just waiting for the rest of the parts. I really wish I'd looked at those when I took it apart last week instead of today...

Everything I have is now dead... or dying...

The Farm truck did make the round trip to Base to pick the kiddos up from school though. Rolleyes

I have a deal in the works for a 400/208 that will eventuially reside in Skitzo (the 799R4 died Sunday) Yes, It's a 208 and not a 205, however I WILL build a crossmember and that will be easier than re-building different length and styles of driveshafts.

I will also be dropping off a 400 to have rebuilt and put behind my newly acquired 3+3 that should be rebuilt by Thursday and reinstalled on Friday.

As well, I have located a good 350Turbo that will be swapped into the Farm Truck so I can go to the dump and back without fear of having to walk home.

Purchased some needed tools for rebuilding transmissions.

Will probably attemp my first rebuiltd sometime after hunting season ends.

Found a CJ bell housing at Action for a GOOD deal and it had the fork too - SCORE! These are in major demand in lower 48 for trans upgrades in CJs. May be able to get GB running with "around town" parts while effectively modernizing the clutch and related parts by a decade or so.

Going through the old reciepts, I figured out a gentleman named James Web did the civilian driveline swap in about 1991 and he worked at Yutana Barge lines. I called Yutana to see if I might track him down and gain some insight as to what donor vehicles were used. The lady answering the phone knew him and I got that foot-in-my-mouth feeling when she told me he passed away some years ago.

Right before last month's meeting I got my 5-1/2" Superlift installed. I ditched the lift blocks and installed a 4" shackle flip and 6" shackles in back for 5-1/2" of lift in back. The truck sits level and looks good. The 39" Michelin XML tires did not clear with just the lift. I would rub while turning and really jammed the front wheel well back when I tried to flex it.

I finally was able to take the time and cut the fenders today. I really only had to cut the front, but I wanted to cut the back to match. I made a pattern on cardboard and used the same cut lines on the bed wheel wells. With a factory truck, the top of the wheel wells are not at the same level. I decided to cut them at the same level and think it looks pretty good.

I'm waiting on one more part to get delivered before I can install my crossover steering. I also need to extend the breather hoses and shim the rear axle to correct the pinion angle. I was playing on some piles of dirt a dump truck dumped in my backyard. I can climb right over them now. I think I'm going to order a heavy duty diff cover and the high steer kit from ORD to keep my tie rod out of harms way. I also need to paint the wheels flat black.

:rockon: Looks good ,i like the fender cut out.

Update your rig status here! - Bulldog - 03 Sep 08

It took 6 hours, 7 cut off discs, 4 sawzall blades, and 1 uni-bit, but I think it was worth it. I want to take some 3/8" or 1/2" cold roll and weld it around the wheel well lip to cover the sharp edges. I also want to patch the hole from the swingfire heater on the left front fender. After I do that I'm going to have to give the camo paint job a touch up.

I have a running truck again! Big Grin

Rebuilt 400 trans / 205 T-case, good running 6.2, front 60 and rear Corp 14FF - all in a clean previous Alyeska 3+3 truck wearing faded Red

Should be a good DD with ability to tow and haul - all for about $1700!

Blue and white Suburban needs some things tightened, oil added, and a new starter - and it should be up and going.

Then to learn to rebuild transmissions! (after Moose Season, of course.)

Update your rig status here! - Zukman - 04 Sep 08

Alright here are some pictures, I reused the winch plate that came with the winch and ole fabbed up the mounts and side plates.

Sad This truck's engine runs strong, but the tranny doesn't seem to want to shift - I am suspecting vaccuum issues. I already replaced the vac pump that was dead - now looking at the vacc / tps switch. 17 to 25 in vacc before siwtch, 10-8 after the switch.

However, the blue and white 3/4 ton suburban is now running again.

Update your rig status here! - Angler - 14 Sep 08

Kevin you should just give it up and install manual transmissions in all your stuff

Ordered an OME lift for the FJ

Realized that I ordered the wrong tires for it

Installed a 30A relay to power all of the accessories installed to date with room for seat heaters.

Trackbar work complete on the TJ
