Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 23 Jan 08 Put my eyes on the probable new trail rig this afternoon. It needs work, and it's starting lift/tires/axles from scratch, but it might be fun. Update your rig status here! - akram - 24 Jan 08 XJ has brakes again but still awaiting a new spring to fix the temporary fix. Still doesn't drive right, but that should be getting fixed in the not too far distant future. Got the main idea for the bumper now just need to make the template and get the steel cut. Need to fix the ps leaks, oil leaks (oil pan and rear main seal), and tranny leak (the plug is stripped so I need to find a new tranny pan). 73 Dodge (temporarily mine) started and drove. Almost got the switches and such in to start it and keep it running. Need to figure out what to do with the motor if anything. Tires are getting removed and switched to another dodge temporarily. Mount battery isolator. Cut fender well and build 2nd battery box. Cut big holes in back bumper. Fill holes with receiver tubes and slave cable receptacle. Reinforce 9.5ti housing. Update your rig status here! - 78calico - 25 Jan 08 I picked tire chains and tensioners all the way around for my truck today. Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 25 Jan 08 I should've figured I'd get flipoff guy from Geoff. Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 25 Jan 08 Just made the deal on a 350, SM465, NP205, shifters, pedals, and the stick shift floorpan, and project Revenge will begin soon, if all goes well. Update your rig status here! - sevenslats - 25 Jan 08 I couldn't come up with a comment that fitting! What body are you installing that drivetrain into? The 91 Burb Update your rig status here! - sevenslats - 26 Jan 08 I wish I had the Huevos to run a Suburban as a trail rig. too big on the outside, just right on the inside. Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 26 Jan 08 I do have plans to make it a little more trail friendly down the road, but for now, it's getting this drivetrain into it and then, axles, lift, tires first. Update your rig status here! - naturalbornmudder - 26 Jan 08 truth be told, I am with you on that one Geoff. I would love to have all that cargo room and power on the trail, as well as wheel base to climb, but right now I havent got completely used to wheeling the larger size of my ZJ compared to my TJ. The J still feels too big and I am still having to remind myself that the ZJ is a lot easier to high-center. I admire the guys who wheel the bigger rigs because it shows an elevated level of skill and knowledge of their vehicle. I just havent achieved that in my ZJ yet. Update your rig status here! - Angler - 26 Jan 08 what kind of axles you gonna put under that thing? Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 26 Jan 08 Gonna start with a 14FF rear with a lincoln locker, and probably a D44/10 bolt eight lug front that will remain open. Hoping to find a set of 36's or 37's to start, 6" leafs up front, 2" leafs plus shackle flip in the rear. No BL at this point. Down the road, look for the D60 (had one, now it's under Skitzo and it even had 4.56 gears! ARGH!!!) Stick with 4.10's until I find the D60 and go 4.88's or 5.13's. Bob the rear and cut off body behind the middle seat, put a back window and wall in to close off the cabin to the elements and make a flatbed for the rear cargo area that's a bit narrower than the body was. Exo to provide roll protection since the body won't have the stregth it had before being chopped. This is all way down the road though. Couldn't do a lincoln locker because I found a limited slip when I removed the cover. Those itty bitty ford 7.5" limited slips look like the inside of a watch after working on a Dana 70. Update your rig status here! - Angler - 01 Feb 08 I went to Alaska Rubber and got some extended brake lines made up today, also went to alaska steel and got the steel to build my driveshaft, I priced the steel to build my bumper and rocklsliders. gonna cost me about 150.00 for the material I need. Update your rig status here! - naturalbornmudder - 01 Feb 08 I ordered up some teraflex bar pin eliminators for the front end to stop the rattling. I also found out what that popping noise was when 99TJ and I wen tout for a quick jaunt on Sunday. The axle pin for the RE genII discos snapped off when the steering pitman arm made contact with it. A phone call to RE netted me the info and a replacement pin. This weekends festivities include disassembly and troubleshooting of the entire Dana 30 front axle and making a parts list of things to get to repair. Any AO gys are welcome to come help out and drink a frosty beverage while we are at it. Wayne says I am 10 minutes away... I've gotten steel form them everytime way cheaper than alaska steel. You just have to look through there scrap and if it isn't there ask. always take cash. Last time I went I got over $60 worth of steel for about $20. And they have the water jet and plasma to cut cheep. And will punch hole in steel for cheep. Update your rig status here! - ChevyKev - 02 Feb 08 Greer - every time. I picked up a 11.5 foot by 12 inch by 3/8 inch "C" channel yesterday for about $80. That's a huge hunk of steel! Update your rig status here! - TJVigilante - 02 Feb 08 Just got a new pair of headlights...only one in so far because only one silverstar burned out. Those things are bright, but don't last long. Needs: MML/BL diff fluid changed locker checked...it's been popping. thought it was the t-case because of: t-case linkage needs adjustment, hopefully that's all it is shift lever checked/tightened/fixed air compressor accessory hose replaced/repaired, air line replaced with sterner stuff...something that can handle the cold to hot temp changes without melting off or blowing up. 250 psi tubing straight from lowes...huge rupture halfway to the tank driving down the highway pressurized to 150 psi. |
