NAPA

Well one is about 4 yrs old and the other is probably one of the first. So say 10yrs old maybe. And the other, well that's a different story, it's really, really, new.

Doesn't hurt to try, I'll take them if you are gonna chuck them.

Burb - Got throttle cable and just talked to a few of their customer service folks. Before I ordered it I had called them and a guy reassured me they pulled it from the box to ensure it didn't have the clip which is why I'm pissed at Napa. Well guess what, even this one has a clip. I measured it and by some weird case of luck, it had 2 & 1/16" of length at idle, where the Napa ones only had 2". I figured I needed almost 2 & 1/4", but was able to shave the top of the clip (instead of needing to remove it like with the Napa ones) and attain 2 & 3/8" of length so it works.

The manager at Rockauto that I spoke to put in a customer complaint, giving me a tracking number and a site I can watch it at to see what they say. If I'm lucky someone will finally fix this so it's not a problem in the future.

Got the LJ back. New rear axle, new front carrier and gears. T-case seems to work right...finally.

Turns out the new t-case they put in in June was assembled at the plant with the wrong fork/cam combination (from some other application of NP241). The shift collar on the main shaft wasn't fully disengaging the drive gear. The week or so of driving it that way this summer with it intermittently binding gears on the highway was enough to fry the axles. So I'm going out on a limb here, but I think for the frist time since mid April, and after a little gear break-in, I have a fully functioning Jeep.

wow. wonder how long a real dealership would have taken to fix that Heep?

rubi's rock!!!

Update your rig status here! - SHoppe715 - 21 Sep 07

...if they could've just given me the $$$ that DC poured into this thing just to get it back to original working order in the name of "warranty work" after figuring parts, labor, shipping, vehicle down time, and everything else... [begin dream sequence]Pro Rock 60 with ARB front and rear, Atlas, Nth Degree lift, rock monster rims, 35"s...would have been driving it weeks/months ago with a couple bucks left in my pocket too...[/sequence]

Had to have costume brake lines made so went to Alaska rubber and rigging they made them up cost me 60.00, had to go to 3 different parts stores to find the right banjo bolts for the calipers, finally got them mounted the brakes, brake lines, filled the master cylinder with brake fluid, gravity fed the the new calipers filled up the master cylinder again, started to bleed the brakes, and POP the brake hose they made popped right out of the Ferrel, of course they were closed by this time and don't reopen till Monday so yet again another wheeling less weekend. Sad

Wow, that sucks. Sorry for your misfortune.

I have three dead red tops sitting in the back of my truck. Who will warranty them?
I can't seem to find anyone who stocks Optimas.

Update your rig status here! - ajpthng - 22 Sep 07

AAFES can get them at the Service Station. They have a red top sitting in the back, atleast they did Thursday.

Update your rig status here! - akram - 22 Sep 07

XJ- Fried and I mean fried battery, it was steaming. Broken front pass side axle shaft/ujoint. Destroyed hub bolts, all three of them. New dents. Nothing accomplished as far as work though.

I've done them at WalMart before, Sears carries them, and yeah they can be done on base as well.

My suburban is giving me fits, I changes the fuel pump and now it won't start. Since I have owned it, it has always had to crank just a bit (but not a lot, maybe 10 seconds) to get it to start the first time of the day. It is not a glow plug issue, I checked that out, plenty of voltage getting to the plugs. Once started, it starts in about a second the rest of the day. I changed out most of the rubber fuel lines, and it got a lot better. Still, I want ti to start like the Hummer, quickly every time. I have figured out recently that the problem is worse if I let it sit overnight with the engine higher than the gas tank, my driveway makes it sit like this. I thought maybe the pump was bad and letting the fuel drain back into the tank overnight, so I bought a new pump. After installing it I can't get this thing to run at all, it started once then ran for 30 seconds and died.... now it won't start at all. I cracked open 2 injector lines and cranked until fuel came out and got lot's of bubbles coming through the fuel return line (I put clear hose there). It is still not starting, I think I neeed some ether.... it will either start or blow up.... either way something cool would happen!!!

I really need to scrap the friggin fuel pump/filter on this thing and install a Hummer filter/ pump. I have ran the Hummer out of fuel 4 times and each time it was pretty easy to prime and get it started again.. this burb is a nightmare to get the fuel system primed.

Update your rig status here! - sevenslats - 23 Sep 07

definately sounds like it's not primed. not knowing a whole lot about the 6.2, is there a fitting you can loosen up near the engine, and let the pump run for 20-30 seconds and bleed?

Walmart and Sears were no help. Can't do AAFEs

had a great day wheeling with 2 broke 2 play at a private property mud run yesterday .
truck was running great till i got about 200 feet from home and the engine temp spiked hard and engine quit, i coasted right onto my front lawn where she sits now .. i think i finally locked it up ..ive had the rod bearings starting to get real loud for a while now ..but she ran great for the whole day and still got me home ! so now its time to get serious with the engine and propane swap .

ill post some pics later in trail rides .

for the 67 scout it will finally get painted next month and be all one color again .. before winter gets serious i need to find a way to get the engine to push some heat to the cab ..she just runs so cool ..

the 69 travellette i need to replace front brake lines and she will be a driver again .. been a major pain finding brake lines for it .

Got to looking into it on the internet and lo and behold there is an "air bleed valve" on the filter housing..... only mine is busted!!! I tried another method found on www.thedieselplace.com and it worked, basically I had to pressurize the return line with an air compressor so it in turn would pressurize the tank and force fuel up the line to the fuel pump, through the filter and into the injection pump. Took about 20 minutes of pressurizing and then cranking and repeating the procedure after which my batteries were about dead. Hooked up the jumper cables to the Hummer and let her charge for a bit then cranked it again and again until it started. It sputtered for about 4-5 minutes all the while I watched the clear hose on the return line, lots of little bubbles. Once the bubbles were gone whe smoothed out and ran better than it ever has. I hope it works, tomorrow morning will be the test, see if it starts on it's own without me having to hold the pedal halfway to the floor.

The jeep is getting disassembled I am just going to re do alot of stuff i cut corners on when I built it, I am going to lower it a few inches, stretch it a few inches, re do the steering, add a second traction bar, fix some jerry rigs, I need to get it right so I can wheel it. I am going to take my time and do it right this time

Update your rig status here! - sevenslats - 24 Sep 07

Hurry up, snow's almost here!

Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 25 Sep 07

Crossover steering parts delayed, they ship tomorrow. When I purchased them, they thought they had a set on the shelf, they noticed they were for a D44 instead of a D60 and if it weren't for an offroad event Friday, they would've had it shipped already. Apologies were said, a discount was offered and stuff was being cleaned and polished while we were talking.

Overall I'm happy with ORD.

Update your rig status here! - sevenslats - 25 Sep 07

Can't complain about that excuse.
"Sorry, we had to go wheeling. We'll take care of that tomorrow."

I haven't had time to work on my own stuff lately - but my winch is getting fixed.

Update your rig status here! - sevenslats - 26 Sep 07

ZJ is gettng it's cat replaced under warranty. some type of recall. cool. At least I didn't have to get it done at Gene's

TJ is doing well. I tweaked the caster a bit the other day, and now it doesn't wander. I may have gone a little bit happy on it, though. The vibes are a little more noticable. I'll be pulling the front lock-rite out after the banner creek run. It sticks intermittently, and I get a terrible bang when it happens. Bersides, with winter coming, and me moving outside, I won't be wanting it in there for a while. IT WON"T BE FOR SALE!!! I'll hang on to it for myself until I see if I want it in there again.

Julie's car is gonna get somse lovin next month. detailed, auto-start fixed, studded tires...

More progress on the suburban..... bled the brakes by myself by using a piece of vaccum hose attached to the bleeder:

I also fixed the dash lights. Getting some tires on it soon and with dual heaters and everything already winterized, it should be a great beater with 2 heaters this winter.
I do still have a nagging problem with starting, it is still getting a tiny bit of air into the injection pump, I think it is the pump itself. Not a show stopper, just a little bothersome, it still starts with half a second crank all but the first time cranking in the morning and then it is like 10 seconds.
