My patience with my vehicles is really starting to wear thin. Jeep's spare is flat and the air compressor won't hold pressure. The portable one I bought works but the battery doesn't last long.

I think I'm going to start doing a little more preventative maintenance in the future...it's all coming down on my head at once.

UPDATE: I figured out why my Jeep's compressor isn't working...the coalescing filter is full of ice and not allowing air to flow through it. I have the bowl off and inside now but I can't thaw out the filter until it warms up a little more. I can't run the Jeep with the hood closed to warm it up that way because I'm low on gas. Gotta fix one thing to fix the thing that can fix it. I'm going to see if I have stuff to rig up a double-ended fitting so I can just cut the filter out of the system until it gets warmer.

I need to put in a couple valves so I can choose to bypass the filter or not, and to isolate the tank as well since there's alot of tubing between the manifold and the air tank to rupture, and it already has once. It's going to get warmer this week so I'll be able to do some of that, maybe even re-plumb the whole system in the process.
I guess no one has been working on there rigs with all the other stuff going on. I had to do the water pump on my zuk yesterday, so a least something got done ( it is an up grade when you don't leave a green trail on the snow) Big Grin
Mine isn't broke enough to work on yet. hopefully a certain other member will get the XJ for a bit to track down one gremlin.

New alternator installed. warranties are great. shimmed the fan this time.

Carb installed. Now just have to calibrate it and buy a new fire eqstinguisher.

I thought I had front turn signals installed but they only flash when hazards are on....

One new kickplate installed, just need time for the other one. Now I have bling...
Annoying rattle/clatter in LJ rearend/body tub gone - just had to turn the outside thermometer up past -30*Big Grin
trying to get Skitzo in the garage for transmission replacement I tore the steering rag joint.

Also will soon be working to remove an efi 454 from a Burb so that I can get it ready to put in the Blazer - then the built 350 from the blazer will end up in Skitzo. Smile

99TJ

Super Short SYE installed
T-Case drop removed
No rear driveshaft..

454 efi with a killer nv4500 combo in skitzo ! she would be one mean mudder then !

with your luck and auto trannies kevin i would look at them as the DEVIL!

No more mushroom clouds from the carb now.
Reworked 90% of the vacuum lines. ran accelerator cable. made linkage for tranny to carb. ran choke cable. Removed cruise control and that stupid coffee can thing. Figured out edelbrock doesn't have a carb vent and the PCV doesn't hook up to the power steering vacuum port..... (shhhhh it's an honest mistake coming from the motorcraft)

You didn't need those crossmember bolts, then?

I aquired a cast iron square bore manifold so I went ahead and yanked the old one and have the new bout half way mocked up. Cool

That's purdy, and hard to come by.

68bronco

i just spent three days re-wireing ten kc's on my buffalo and added six more does that count?
AKMark Wrote:That's purdy, and hard to come by.

Purdy = wire wheel and new paint! Had me fooled at first glance....

hard to come by? I have 2 in my backyard! Big Grin

Yet - an upgrade is always an upgrade!

For a 360? When I had my Waggy I looked around and couldn't find much for those. It would figure that you might have two.

yeah it sure it purdy :p I glass bead blasted it and painted. It'll look nice until the summer when I pressure wash the mud and paint off....
Ya know there's something about chrome that make you feel all pretty inside. Big Grin
I put it back together last night and just timed it. Idle has steadied out and now pulls 25Hg. The stumble seems to be gone but I've yet to test drive it.
I'm gonna have to see what 360 manifolds you have. I was told the square bores that came with 4300 carbs (I think) were only out in '74-'75. The rest are spread bores and need an adapter specific for AMC because they are a little smaller than the quadrajets (43## carbs). Well maybe those aren't the correct numbers but it's something like that.

You hit it on the head, if Kev really has two in his yard, I'm shocked, but I've been shocked before.
New clutch in the big zuk, Man it is unreel how much mud that can get packed in to a clutch!!!

It's cool you found one. The option other than an adapter is the Edelbrock Performer manifold - pretty reasonable from Summit... if you don't get the chrome princess version.

Hmmm...an anti-bling 360 with a signaling mirror for an air cleaner cover...now where have I seen one of those before... Wink

Stumblinman

Hey I'd be a real hit if we had to signal an airplane...... I could see people running around waving air cleaners and valve covers....

Well I pulled everything off the top of the engine, cleaned it up and reinstalled everything. Hopefully the manifold will be leak free now. All I'm lacking now is timing. The light seems to have crapped out on me.
I have a timing light you can use if you need it.

Stumblinman

Thanks for the offer but Eric just got this new nifty one with all the doodads. :p

trailkilla

what happened to my old timing light?

ARCTIC_EXPRESS

BUSTED...

Stumblinman

I'm guessing it just couldn't handle all the power from the 360.
No seriously after the explosion there really wasn't much left. Big Grin
It has been upgraded to a digital version that does 4 times as many things for you.
Grizzlybeaver:
-Blown rear caliper replaced
-Oil changed
-2nd battery re-installed
-Moved to DD status for the next day or so

LJ: At Gene's
-Getting oil seals replaced (warranty on engine but have to pay 1/2 hr labor for them to r/r the Tummy Tucker to get at the exhaust flange - he said it took 2 guys to drop the thing that I installed solo laying on my back in the driveway)
-Electrical gremlin getting looked into (engine RPM surges to 2300 when A/C compressor kicks in)
