FSJ! FSJ! FSJ! :p
New car seat in the WJ.
Bought another truck today Big Grin
Will just have to haul it up from Big Lake next month. This is the third truck I've bought from Wasilla / Big Lake in the last 2 months.

1988 Chevy 1 ton crew cab, 6.2 diesel, TH400, NP205, Dana 60, FF14 bolt, unsure of gears. My friend bought it for parts. He wanted the 1 ton running gear, but now doesn't have time for the project. He drove it home, but has since robbed the oil cooler out of it.

I'm buying it sight unseen. He's a co-worker of mine so I'm not afraid of it. I'm planning a crew cab buggy project for this truck. I have to get my other two trucks done, so this project will wait until winter.

Planning on buying another truck when I get home also. That one will be my plow truck. So I'll have 4 Chevy trucks, one daily driver, a work truck, a buggy, and a plow truck. I don't know how I'm going to sneak these next two truck past my wife though :p
Back up and running and even uglier than before.Big Grin

One wonders if there's an advantage to buying 4 similar trucks, three of which can have a single truck do all that work. (work, DD, plow). I guess there's the spare parts deal...

I was thinking about having all in one, but decided against it. DD is 1/2 ton and will only be on 33's. Small enough where the wife can drive it if she needs to.

"Work truck" will have 35's and will be very off road capable. Keeping heavy rear springs for payload and towing. This will be decent enough to drive if I am working on the DD.

Plow truck has the front plow mounting frame has no ground clearance at all. I wouldn't want to take this off road at all, in fact it will probably keep studded tires on it and only be driven in the winter.

Buggy truck is for fun. Going big lift (maybe 10" to 12") and big tires, don't really want to drive it on the street too much.

Two trucks are diesel and don't need I/M. Yes, I will need registrations for all of them, but this isn't too expensive. Insurance is pretty cheap, I need to check if they give me a better deal since I surely can drive all four trucks at once.

The four trucks doesn't include the 5th one I have for parts Wink It is nice that all trucks will be able to interchange most body parts. 4 are long beds and one short bed. I'm already buying Chevy parts like you wouldn't believe. In fact, it's hard to pass up a good deal on parts even if I don't need them right now
77 Blazer
- needs a tighter PS belt - it's about 1/2 an inch too long as is
- has some electrical issues to still work out after 55 mile
- has a quarter pannel that needs pried out so the taillight will again bolt in location
- also needs the afore mentioned taillight replaced.
- needs to be wheeled more regularly! Big Grin

73 Pickup
- got close to getting this running today.
- tomorrow I pick up a parts vehicle that has a few things I need to finish this
- hopefully on Monday it is running and on Tuesday it may get paint!

75 Pickup
- replaced turn signal lens that got Mark pulled over the last time he borrowed it! Big Grin
- Needs plow dismounted
- Need to then make a new front bumper
- May replace the rear bumper or make a new one

86 Jeep
- needs tires rotated and a bushing replaced (got the bushing though!)

91 Blazer
- needs trans pulled out again and the brand new pressure plate replaced!
- then needs the 35's put back on
- have a light bar to assist with winter plowing to install
- need to finish plow mount

83 Burnb
- still needs engine pulled form pickup and installed in this vehicle

99 Burb
- needs step sides installed

71 Vega
- Needs a new starter, and distributor installed
- Needs to be driven!
XJ needs wheeled as it is going to sit as is till fall at the eariest.
Toyota still need the missed fuel line fixed and window looked at and fixed then sold. Not in that order either.
Dodge needs oil and filter change, fuel filter change (what a pain), new tires, the whole in the bed fixed and spray in bedliner.
K-5 got a different carb and runs pretty good. Will seafoam it soon and I need to pull the transmission pan and fix the TV cable valve. It's not pulling the cable all the way back in (that's why it was loose Kev) and causing it to hold gear unless I rev it up higher and won't allow the use of overdrive at all. I also found a torque converter lockup kit (ordered for the 91, but I'll put it in here first and order another one as it takes only a few days to get here for the 91) that will lockup the torque converter in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears ensuring the tranmission stays cool and should assist in making it more fun offroad without changing a transmission. I will probably buy an auxillary trans cooler and trans temp guage soon to keep an eye on things.

I also need to replace the door lock cylinders, fix the turn signals, fix the horn button, install new rear brake shoes, and fix the e-brake. It won't take long to get this stuff done and be ready to ship this fall and play with till then.

91 Burb - Need to call the machine shop prior to pulling apart the motor and find out what they recommend before dismantling the motor.

The body is an 85 Kev, the motor came from an 83. Big Grin

ARCTIC_EXPRESS

suzuki's rear brakes are fix and she's ready to go
f150 still in pieces and waiting for parts
bronco still not sure what were doing there
Adjusted the rear bands on the 42RE in the ZJ tonight. will do a filter change and the front bands tomorrow. I also have 4 d30 u-joints to replace on my fleet.
Unfortunately no updates to mine. I haven't even had time to fix the blower in the XJ. Maybe in the morning.

update:
The TJ is sold, and I bought a new rig. I paid sticker price for it, but it is worth it. The best part is the mileage. It gets about 10 miles per case of Bud Light...
finally got around to fixing the front geared hub vent lines with arctic grade hose. While I was under therre I found 6 or so halfshaft bolts finger tight, so I removed them, put some lock tight on and put them back in.

I am thinking about selling it again, I just don't have the time to work on it. If I had a chevy or a jeep at least I could pay someone to do the work for me, but I doubt anyone up here would touch a Hummer, or if I could afford it if they did.
Another truck followed me home tonight Big Grin

I bought a 1985 K10 Scottsdale; 305, SM465, NP208, 10 bolts front and rear. Somethings wrong in the rear end and sounds like a u-joint is going out up front. No prob, I was planning on installing the Dana 44 and 14BFF with 4.10's out of the '75 I have. I figure the 4.10's along with the SM465 will be enough gear reduction to keep the 305 in there. I'm thinking this is going to be my plow truck, but it's got the cleanest looking body out of all 4 Chevy trucks I have

The bug guard, fender flares, and running boards have to go.

I got all the front end work done on the 1987 truck; new seals, u-joints, ball joints, brakes, drag link, and tie rod ends. The lift is installed along with new extended brake lines. I ran out of brake fluid while bleeding the brakes, I'll have to finish tomorrow. Then I'll get an alignment and have the new wheels and tires put on. I'll get some before and after pictures tomorrow. Almost ready to wheel. It seems like this build is taking forever, but I was out of town for three weeks.
coming along nicely.
Shouldn't you get the alignment after you get new tires?

Don't the alignment tools bolt to the wheels/hubs, so tires don't matter? The same shop is doing the alignment and installing wheels and tires, so they SHOULD know what they are doing. I'll ask before hand though.

akdsmer

Definitely new tires first. Without even discussing how the worn tires affect the alignment, consider that a GOOD alignment tech (FRONT END SHOP) will test drive it before and after and make the necessary adjustments to allow it to drive down the road correctly. Most shops will set it in specs, blame it on the lift and say see ya. If you are worried about wear before the alignment, simply throw them in the back and have THE FRONT END shop install them before taking it for a drive.

Need to replace two air lines on the compressor

i should order up new springs for the locker...it's acting strangely. Don't want to pull a Geoff.

need to degrease the interior and put the carpet back in...that or find some herculiner

need a winch plate made/bought.
Parked since Sat. Mud cleaned off.
New fan blade installed with a switch so I can turn the fan on and off for water crossings and mud holes, CB is hard wired in now and looking for some wire loom so I can cover up the wires along my roll cage.
finally stepped up to 35's on my little 85 toy !!!Big Grin i only have 2 nches of lift so alot of fender mods were done to clear up front ..with my bed design in the rear i can run 42's before i hit those  she sits really nice with the better offset rims as well .. stays tucked in well but allowing for a nice wide stance without using anymore spacers ..

also welded the rear axle solid .. works nice no weird noises or bangs ...

also worked on the water proofing in the engine bay ..with the runs being so early this year and hills getting alot of evening rain im expecting alot of mud .
Got the brakes bled and had the wheels and tires installed. Get the alignment tomorrow morning.

Bad things so far: I went to install the front driveline and found that the exhaust crossover is in the way. Transfer case drop would just make it worse. So now I have to get the TRUE dual exhaust before I can have 4x4. I was planning on doing this anyway, now just have to do it sooner. I can't go out and play with my new tires. Also I am getting some heat on the front hubs/rotors, nothing excessive, but more than I'd like to see. I'm not sure if the brakes are dragging causing the rotor to heat up then the hubs or if somethings wrong with the bearings or the preload causing the heat. Both sides are about the same temp. I'm going to get a laser thermometer to check it out.

Good: The tires (Toyo MT's) don't have any road noise, or at least what I would have expected. We'll se how they do offroad.

I took some pictures. The ones offroad had too high of grass so you couldn't see the wheels, thus that's why I'm posting the poser pic on the road. Now my truck sits as high as my wife's stock F-350 does  I probably could have gone with 35's, but would have had to re-gear.
